Web Hosting NewsRenton, WA – Cloud services enablement leader Parallels now offers the leading server update product – Ksplice Uptrack – to customers of Parallels Virtuozzo Containers and Parallels Plesk Panel.  Ksplice Uptrack allows server administrators to install important operating system updates and security fixes without rebooting.

This is groundbreaking news for the hosting industry, where a typical server admin spends up to 30 hours per month updating and rebooting servers, often resulting in involuntary downtime. Ksplice Uptrack for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers and Parallels Plesk Panel reduces OS maintenance downtime virtually to zero and bolsters security. Ksplice has been optimized for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers and Parallels Plesk Panel, and only Containers allow for seamless patching across hundreds of virtual environments on a single physical node, delivering the full value of Ksplice Uptrack to service providers.

“We are excited to partner with Ksplice to give the hosting industry its weekends back,” said Bryan Goode, VP, GM Marketplace at Parallels.  “Ksplice Uptrack is a proven solution that ends monthly reboots and lets IT administrators stay up to date almost effortlessly. In an increasingly competitive landscape, hosting companies need to ensure their servers are available at all times while remaining profitable and effectively managing costs.”

Ksplice Uptrack is a subscription service that allows IT administrators to keep Linux servers up-to-date without the disruption and downtime of rebooting. Before Uptrack, system administrators had to schedule downtime in advance to bring Linux servers up-to-date, because updating the central part of a computer’s operating system—the kernel—previously required rebooting the computer. Until a system can be updated, it remains vulnerable to security flaws. By allowing IT administrators to install kernel updates without downtime, Uptrack dramatically reduces the cost of system administration.

“We’re honored that Parallels has chosen Ksplice Uptrack to end reboots on Parallels Virtuozzo Containers,” said Waseem Daher, Chief Operating Officer of Ksplice. “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Parallels, as many of our target customers are already partners or associated with Parallels. Together, we will squash millions of reboots in 2011.”

Hundreds of the world’s leading cloud computing providers, Web hosting firms and enterprise installations use Ksplice Uptrack to update Linux seamlessly, without disruption to customers.

“We deployed Ksplice Uptrack on thousands of virtual private servers last year and never looked back,” said Daniel Greene, Systems Architect at Media Temple. “Delivering our customers the highest level of security and availability is critical to our business.  With Ksplice for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers, we see the best server configuration available for rapidly and transparently delivering essential updates.”

Ksplice Uptrack for Parallels Virtuozzo Containers and Parallels Plesk Panel will be demonstrated at Parallels Summit 2011, held February 22-24 in Orlando, Florida at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center.
